Troop 202 is dedicated to the total Scout experience. An active schedule of camping adventures, community service, leadership, and advancement are the cornerstones to the development of young adults who are responsible and live the virtues of Scouting.
In 1933, Troop 202 was formed with a commitment to Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. We are chartered by the Rotary Club of Franklin, North Carolina.
Troop 202 has outdoor activities every month. Past trips have focused on hiking, biking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and many other fun activities. We have regular events like a Winter Klondike, Virginia Creeper Bike Trail, a rafting trip, and each summer we attend a week-long summer camp. Locations include Camp Daniel Boone and Camp Rainy Mountain. We also spend time at Lumpkin Adventure Base, an extension of Camp Daniel Boone.
Merit badges are awards earned by youth members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). They are based on activities within an area of study by completing a list of periodically updated requirements. The purpose of the merit badge program is to allow Scouts to examine subjects to determine if they would like to further pursue them as a career or a vocation.
